Wisdom From the Universe: Learn How to Direct Your Energy and Focus
Are you aware of your thoughts and the focus of what you are thinking about at any given time, or do you believe your thoughts are randomly occurring? Have you ever considered there is an energetic connection between what you are thinking and what you are feeling? Would you like to experience better feelings and in turn, shift your attention away from thoughts that are upsetting and/or emotionally distressing?
There is a phrase used by humans and when it is expressed, it is given as a pass, to accept, forgive, or explain something a person has said or done. That phrase is "being human". If you were involved in a relationship and it ended, resulting in strong emotional outbursts or tears, someone might say to you, "that's okay, you are only human".
It is believed there are inherent "natural" reactions to life events and circumstances, as if human minds are programmed to act in this manner automatically. But the reality is that the mind is directional by nature, guided by the intentions of the human who directs or guides or instructs it. A person can condition their mind to respond to situations in a particular manner, which in turn becomes a practiced habit and therefore may appear to be a human response versus a learned response.
This means the mind is and can be trained. Every day, and with everything you do, you are training your mind, and at an energetic level. There are several possible states you can train your mind to be in and it is divided between positive and negative energy. There are different versions of positive and negative energetic states of mind. A person who worries about finances is training the mind to focus on the fear of impending failure. A person who worries about health is training the mind to focus on the negative energy of the fear of the unknown.
But the person who decides to focus on happy memories, their accomplishments, and what they have learned in life, they are training their mind to focus on the positive energy stream. When the mind is trained to look inward and feel good, negative situations do not likely prompt the response typically expected, from upset to anger. That is due to a trained focus, the directional flow towards positive, productive energy. The converse is also true. A trained negative focus can prompt irrational, loud, aggressive, responses which can flow unchecked.
Can the Mind Be Trained?
For most people, the idea of a trained mind may seem odd. But this is no different than religious institutions teaching people to pray. That is a form of directional flow, even if it is to a perceived being. It is a matter of turning the attention of the mind and training it to stay in one direction on a consistent basis. This is also called attunement.
By Dr. Bruce A. Johnson
It is also possible to become practiced at directing the mind towards a positive energetic flow but then have moments when the mind is diverted to something negative. There are many negative influences surrounding humans, from what is available online to what can be seen on the news.
A Connection to Emotional Intelligence
Even those who are the most well-practiced can feel a pull towards negative energy and if they are not careful, they too can be drawn in. But with practice, the emotional discord can be felt and recognized quickly, and focus towards positive energy restored. A name has been given for this ability and it has been called emotional intelligence. What this phrase does is to explain the process at a superficial level, something most people can understand. But what is really going on is much deeper than that as it occurs at an energetic level. The reason why is that thoughts alone are not enough to change emotions felt, there must also be a shift in the connection to the energetic flow, from negative to positive.
Being Connected to Positive and Negative Energy
Then the question some humans raise is this: Why should I care so much about feeling connected to the positive energetic stream at all times? The answer is simple. It is where feelings of pure happiness and love and well-being flow. You see evidence of those who are attuned to a negative energetic flow all around you, including everyone who has done something that society would label evil, hateful, unthinkable, bad, wrong, and so on. For many of those people, a negative energetic flow has occurred for so long it is now a practiced feeling.
The result of an ongoing connection to a negative energy flow is generally very self-destructive to the human body and its well-being. It deteriorates the mind and can lead to outward manifestations, such as actions taken which negatively affect others. This can be small actions, from negative comments to antisocial behavior, to unthinkable or unforgivable actions. In contrast, a practiced focus towards positive energy helps to establish harmony within the body and with others. It ensures a peaceful existence within and it is usually manifested outward with others. There are varying degrees as a person can flow in and out of this state, depending upon their level of discipline.
Learning to Change Your Focus
Because you are reading this now, it means you care about how you feel. Pay attention to how you are training your mind and what you are creating as a point of focus. You will know how you feel within the connection to a positive or negative energetic source by the emotions you experience. You do not need to experience bliss or even pure happiness at all times. Even a sense of balance and contentment is enough to establish stability and a focus towards the best in life. Your mind follows the direction you lead it and produces thoughts accordingly. Nothing is produced randomly.
This knowledge tells you that if you want to change how you feel and what you are experiencing now, it is time to take better control of the focus you give to your mindset. You do not need affirmations or anything more than to shift to thoughts of something that allows you to experience a positive emotion. Then you must guard your mind from the external environment and the negativity which would distract your focus. You decide what is important to know for life and what you can do without to protect your well-being, especially if you are now struggling with a problem of chronic negative thoughts.
After mental housekeeping, or evaluating external influences, be prepared to pay more attention to internal influences and how one negative thought can take you down a path of many more negative thoughts. As you ready yourself internally and externally, you are now prepared to better hold a focus towards the good in life, the best in yourself and others, and this will help you stay connected to the positive energy stream.
A universal truth is this: Through an ongoing connection to the positive energetic stream, the insight and wisdom of Higher Order Collective Consciousness will flow easily to you and through you. This helps you feel as if you can face each day, no matter what opportunities and challenges it may bring to you as you have an energetic connection to the Source of Life energy which has all knowledge, all wisdom, and gives life to all humans.
The external environment around you may remain the same, with its problems, financial challenges, societal noise, and negative influences. But when you are positively focused and energetically balanced, you are connected, attuned, and capable of remaining in harmony. Even if your focus should shift, for a minute, a day, or a week, you know how to train yourself back into to the positive energy stream and you can shift your focus back again. With time and practice, you will soon learn to focus just by how you feel. Then you will live in energetic harmony, balanced internally, and listening uninterrupted for the wisdom you need to live the life you have planned.

What Is "Prosperity" Thinking and How Do I Think That Way?
The Google dictionary definition of prosperity is "the state of being prosperous". Synonyms listed with the definition include profitability, affluence, wealth, opulence, luxury, the good life, milk, and honey, (good) fortune, ease, plenty, comfort, security, well-being, for example, "she deserves all the prosperity she now enjoys."
While the definitions and many in society use "prosperity" as a reference to financial riches and gains. There is a related school of thought that widens the framework of prosperity to not just be "prosperous" financially, but to include a way of being, called "prosperity thinking or mindset". This is talking about the ability to view your whole life through a lens of prosperity in your thinking. This is significant because research has shown a great majority of a humans thought is negative, which is the opposite of prosperity thinking. There is a variety of research showing negative thinking is more natural to the human being, which would mean prosperity/positive thinking and thought is not natural to the human being.
- 80% human thoughts per day are negative (2)
- our attitudes are more heavily influenced by bad news than good news (3)
- in the English dictionary, 62% are negative emotional words vs. only 32% positive words (4)
- 75-98% of mental and physical illnesses come from our thought life! (1)
In my years of study, learning and working in personal growth and development, psychology, counseling and coaching, there are a few concepts that come to the top to help you shift your thinking to a more prosperous mind. The value of this is not only positive to your mood and inner wellbeing but affects you physically and ripples into the rest of your life (actions and attraction). Some might find the topic of positive psychology to feel "fluffy", "rosy thinking" or unrealistic, however, when people find themselves surrounded by negativity, depressed, stuck and constantly fighting "funks", these simple practices can change their life.
While simple, on one hand, these are multifaceted "practices" to develop and master in your life. There are books that dive deeper into the topic, but for the sake of introduction, here are three components I have found to be key to developing and growing your prosperous mind.
1. Growth or Fixed Thinking. To have a prosperous mind - you want to have GROWTH THINKING vs. FIXED THINKING. This concept is more commonly taught in the academic and education world, however, it is a foundation of learning and a core way of thinking, learning and growing that applies to our entire life. Mindsetworks is a site that explains the origin of this concept. Dr. Carol Dweck, a Stanford professor, studied thousands of children and coined the term "fixed" and "growth" mindset to describe the underlying beliefs people have about learning and intelligence. When students were encouraged in growth thinking ("learning is my goal" "effort makes me stronger") their scores and results improved. In contrast, those who have fixed thinking, focus on their limitations and can even be a victim of the skills and talents they believe they do or do not have without any control to make themselves better. This is a great YouTube to explain how it works: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=75GFzikmRY0
2. Abundance vs. Scarcity. To have a Prosperity Mindset, look at what IS POSSIBLE vs. what IS NOT POSSIBLE. Abundance says there is enough and there is plenty, it trusts that whatever is has perfection to it. It creates contentment and confidence of acceptance to see the value and benefit of what is. Scarcity focuses on what we do not have and that there is not enough. It creates a fear of the lack and generates a panic to take or get because there will not be enough or I might not have enough. Because of our negative natural human wiring, it is natural to see the world and life from a sacristy perspective. For example, two children are sharing and think, if I don't get the toy I want now, I might not get it. As an adult, if you don't get a job you apply for, scarcity worries, I won't get a job or did poorly. The difference is an abundance mindset, which has similarities or overlaps with the growth mindset sees it differently. Abundance knows I will have time with the toy sometime. Abundance knows if I keep trying I will get the right job at the right time. To me, abundance vs scarcity is about trust vs. fear.
3. Unattachment vs. attachment. Lastly, unattachment is the ability to let something go and if it is meant to be it will come back. Attachment is one way of seeing, thinking and doing something. Usually, attachment is being attached to my way. I have a preconceived idea of how it has to go and look and if it does not happen that way, I see it as failure. Unattachment sets goals and has visions but is open to how things might evolve or unfold. That does not mean getting off course or ten directions, it just means being flexible to possibilities and opportunities as they present themselves and being open enough to recognize them even though they might not have been what you expected. For example, you really want a job at Apple, but do not get it. You are given the opportunity to volunteer at the high school and help with the tech club, which would be an opportunity to do something connected to your goal and create connections that would help you achieve your goal in the future. Often even better opportunities than we can imagine present themselves. This is about your attitude.
Prosperity Thinking = Growth Mindset + Prosperity Perspective + Unattachment (what can I learn and how can I grow + what is possible and what can I do + open to what happens without rules, limits or demands on how that evolves).
A good way to test your thinking is to write your goals and then 5 thoughts about your goals. Put them through the filter and make sure they are growth-minded, have a prosperity perspective and surrender attachments. If the thoughts are more fixed, scarcity and attached, make a T chart and write the positive perspective on the other side. You can begin to train your thinking and shift the way you believe, think and respond to the world. The benefits will not only bring more joy and energy to your life, but the impact you have on others will be noticeable and significant as well.

Dealing With Reality
We all want to win, but we all need to train for it. That is reality. Without real, hard earned understanding, we just hack at life and cannot live efficiently. When we take the time to learn the in, out and everything in life, we get better results. It is just like when there is a difference between flying to the top of a mountain in a helicopter, plane or air vessel and genuinely climbing a mountain.
When I think about the genuine nature of reality, genuine winners genuinely do not try to cheat. I use the words "try to cheat", because ultimately the very concept of cheating is unrealistic, and ultimately harder than if the honest path were taken to the same goals. Honest "overnight greatness and success" is years of visualization, training and understanding all facets of what is being done. If anyone says otherwise, they are cheating at a very deep level, not only themselves, but the people they are telling that big lie to. It is almost like the concept of the payday loan saying "get three months pay now" without the full disclosure of "get three months pay now, but pay three years pay worth of interest on it" at the very least! So, get this: Cheating is the big fantasy trip, dealing with reality fully straight is the genuinely winning trip anyway. If you travel the real road, you will achieve your genuine goal. Fake it genuinely and you will not make it.
Being real is always worth it, then is it not? A life based on lying and cheating at deep levels always costs more anyway ultimately. Real is the most direct path there is to any goal. It is the genuine journey of the hero, anyway. Reality will deal with you on this level: If you are genuinely willing to take the honest path, reality will rise up to meet you as you meet that challenge. When I say willing as a word, I mean wanting your goal and working your goal so fully and so consistently, with perseverance, that nothing will break you from going for it.
So, in the end, every limitation disengaged and you have fully evolved past it all, were you real or were you a cheater? only your heart and reality can answer that itself within yourself when you face yourself. Think about it. Only you can answer that question genuinely for yourself when you are evolved enough, nobody else can.

Don't Go Through Life Quitting. Anything Substantial Requires Seeing It Through To The End
Life Doesn't Have A Timeline For Us
Quitting is easy though we rarely achieve anything when we abandon our goals. Knowing that, take a moment to reflect on something you're contemplating giving up on right now. It may be career related, health or otherwise. Why do you want to give up? Is it the only way? Have you considered other options? Once you've had a moment to reflect on it, think about why you undertook the goal in the first place. It might be that having a passion or purpose makes it harder to quit because of the emotional investment required to achieve it. Sometimes, we undertake goals we don't resonate with but fill a void in our life. Pursuing a goal or a dream ought to provide us with a sense of value and meaning in our lives, otherwise we're less likely to see it through. Does this make sense, insofar as being committed to the goal instead of wishing for something better to come along?
To go through life quitting weakens our character and erodes our self-esteem since we become habituated to taking the easy way out. As you know, life is not meant to be a bed of roses, nor is it riddled with pain and suffering. When we make choices aligned with our core values and highest intent, we are likely to pursue actions aligned with them. Sometimes, chasing after a goal or dream means toiling away in the trenches, for months, if not years with no respite. Occasionally, it requires walking away from situations that no longer serve us or our core purpose. This is difficult because there are no assurances we're making the right choice. The one measure we have is whether it feels right. Our emotions become our barometer if we're in it for the right reasons.
To achieve anything substantial requires hard work, determination and a resolute will to overcome the obstacles and challenges that lay ahead. It requires facing our demons and wrestling with them repeatedly. It involves revisiting the past and dredging up baggage we thought we once healed. I don't believe life has a timeline for us because sometimes we must gain knowledge, wisdom and understanding which cannot be rushed. Just as a flower blooms at the right time, so do the fruits of our labour when the conditions are right. To quit means to throw away the time and energy invested pursuing a goal. What I'm saying is: We mustn't allow difficult moments to define whether we will achieve our goals and dreams. This is the advice echoed by the American psychologist and author Angela Duckworth who writes in her bestselling book Grit: The Power of Passion and Perseverance: "Many of us, it seems, quit what we start far too early and far too often. Even more than the effort a gritty person puts in on a single day, what matters is that they wake up the next day, and the next, ready to get on that treadmill and keep going."
Nothing Substantial Comes Easily
Invariably, we will face difficult moments and make tough decisions anyway, so we might as well be doing it pursuing our passions and aspirations. How does this idea appeal to you? Can you see how sticking with something long term can be a great benefit to you? It's worth rendering a caveat here that sometimes we ought to quit when things are not working out. I don't intend the advice in this article to mean you mustn't ever give up. The message is simple: if you are passionate about something and you want it, find a way to get it and let go of why you can't have it.
In this wicked world of illusion, sometimes miracles can happen overnight. Life works in mysterious ways and when least expected. Circumstances can fall into place only if we labour and toil away at our respective goal. Nothing substantial comes easily and if it does, it is likely to slip from our hands just as quickly. For example, if you're in a relationship that has run its course, your only option may be to walk away from it, but what about investing the time and energy to work it out? Might it be in your best interest to keep trying before you quit? I don't have the answers and neither will you until you embark on the hard work which can be tiresome and plain ugly.
